West Ham United's Niclas Füllkrug Suffers Injury in Netherlands Loss
bundesliga star hurts knee in 1-0 friendly defeat
striker set for scans on suspected ligament damage
West Ham United striker Niclas Füllkrug suffered a knee injury during the Netherlands' 1-0 friendly defeat to Germany on Tuesday.
The 29-year-old had to be replaced by Luuk de Jong in the 18th minute of the match in Amsterdam after suffering a knock in a challenge with Germany defender Antonio Rüdiger.
Sources claim Füllkrug is expected to undergo scans to determine the full extent of the injury, but it is feared he could be set for a spell on the sidelines.
The injury comes as a blow to West Ham manager David Moyes, who is already without Danny Ings and Gianluca Scamacca through injury.
Füllkrug has been in impressive form for West Ham this season, scoring three goals in six Premier League appearances since joining the club from Werder Bremen in the summer.
His injury will be a major concern for Moyes, who is also facing a fight to keep hold of the striker amid interest from Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund.
The Netherlands' victory over Germany was their first win in six matches under new manager Ronald Koeman.
The win was also a boost for new Germany manager Hansi Flick, who saw his team produce a much-improved performance after their 6-0 defeat to Spain last week.
