Three candidates vying for lone council seat in upcoming byelection
An in-depth look at the candidates vying for your vote
Voters in Harrison Hot Springs will head to the polls this October 15, 2023, to choose a new councillor in a byelection.
Three candidates are in the running for the position: former councillor Leo Facio, community volunteer Bill Moreton, and Harrison Festival Society treasurer Judy Sentes.
The byelection was called after long-time councillor Michael Mullin stepped down at the end of June to focus on his health.
Facio, a retired business owner, served on council from 2008 to 2014. He's running on a platform of fiscal responsibility, environmental sustainability, and community engagement.
Moreton, a local business owner, is a first-time candidate. He's running on a platform of economic development, improved infrastructure, and increased transparency at town hall.
Sentes, a retired teacher, is also a first-time candidate. She's running on a platform of social justice, affordable housing, and environmental protection.
The byelection will be held on October 15, 2023, from 8 am to 8 pm. Advance voting will be held on October 4, 5, and 11, 2023, from 8 am to 8 pm at the Harrison Hot Springs Community Hall.
