SolidWorks Tutorials for Beginners
Adjusting Drawing Scale
In this tutorial, we will explore how to adjust the drawing scale for our drawings. Adjusting the drawing scale allows us to control the size and proportion of the drawing relative to the actual size of the object being represented. This can be useful for creating drawings that are either larger or smaller than the actual object, or for creating drawings that fit on a specific page size.
Creating Drawing Geometry
You can create drawing geometry using 2D sketched geometry only without reference to a 3D model. This can be useful for creating simple drawings that do not require the complexity of a 3D model, or for creating drawings that are based on 2D data, such as floor plans or electrical diagrams.
Applying Dimensions and Relations
You can use the Fully Define Sketch PropertyManager to apply dimensions and relations calculated from the sketch geometry. This can help to ensure that the drawing is accurate and consistent.
Top-Down Design Approach
Using the top-down approach to design parts within an assembly is very common in SolidWorks. This approach involves creating a high-level assembly sketch that defines the overall structure and relationships of the parts in the assembly. Individual parts are then created within the context of the assembly, and their geometry is defined relative to the assembly sketch.
